When Naming your Spotted Draft, please take these rules into consideration:
- Names should be in accordance with the registry that your Spotted Draft is eligible for.
Many people don't realize that Spotted Drafts could be and fall under several breed definitions:
- If the horse is a Draft or Friesian crossed with a Saddlebred and is colored, it is a Spotted Draft & a Georgian Grande.
- If the horse is of Draft x Light colored horse breeding, with Draft conformation & is colored (spotted), it is a Spotted Draft.
- If the horse is a Draft crossed with a Spotted Draft and is colored, it is a Spotted Draft.
- Some purebred Shires & Clydesdales are loud enough to be registered as or called Spotted Drafts.
- Also TRUE Spotted Drafts do not have to have a registered draft parent. However by confirmation and color the unregistered draft should be easily reconigized as a purebred Draft (or Draft x Draft cross).
- Also TRUE Spotted Draft should NOT be less then 1/2 OR 50% (i.e. can get 25% draft from both parents and still qualify) draft blood.
