When Naming your Standardbred, please take these rules into consideration:
- Names are limited to a maximum of four (4) words.
- Names are limited to a maximum of eihteen (18) letters (inlcuding spaces).
- Names cannot be the same as the name of a horse previously registered and active in racing or breeding. Any name duplicated from another registry shall carry the suffix GB. Any repetition of a name previously recorded in the Studbooks of the British Harness Racing Club or any other accepted domestic registry shall carry a numerical suffix.
- Names cannot be misleading as to family, origin, relationship or sex.
- Names cannot contain or be offensive or vulgar.
- Names cannot in whole or in part the name of a living person unless that person consents in writing to the use of his name.
- Names cannot be similar in spelling or pronunciation to a name already in use.
- Names cannot be the name of a famous or notorious person.
- Names cannot be a trade name or a name claimed for advertising purposes.
